While perhaps not the most original work to create, I find it very rewarding to build 3D models of ships featured in the various incarnations of Star Trek. Part of it is the wealth of reference material available, since most of the iconic designs were built as physical filming models, and part of it is enjoying Star Trek in a different – and very detailed – way than watching the shows and movies.

Last month, I decided I wanted to revamp my Ambassador-class starship model to make it more consistent with the other items in my portfolio. I also thought it would represent a good benchmark for how my skills have developed over time.
